2026年7月31日（金）から8月2日（日）にかけて、琴坂研究会の2026年度夏合宿を 静岡県伊東市 で開催しました。今年は 一軒家を貸し切って の共同生活とし、日中は山と海沿いを歩きました。夜は全員で BBQ の火を囲み、経営戦略と組織をめぐる議論を重ねながら、秋学期の研究会の進め方についても話し合いました。卒業を控えたメンバーによる卒業プロジェクト（GP）の発表 もあわせて行い、研究会の一年の節目となる3日間でした。
From Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August 2026, the IBER-Kotosaka summer retreat for the 2026 academic year was held in Ito, Shizuoka. This year the seminar rented an entire house and lived in it together, spending the days in the hills and along the coast. The evenings were spent around a barbecue we cooked ourselves, working through questions of strategy and organisation and talking over how the seminar would run in the autumn term. The members graduating this year also presented their graduation projects (GPs). That made these three days a marker in the seminar's year.
伊東の一軒家を借りて · A house to ourselves in Ito
伊東市は伊豆半島の東岸、相模灘 に面した街です。東京からの距離はさほど遠くないのに、駅に降りた時点で空気の湿度と光の強さが変わります。今年の宿には 貸し切りの一軒家 を選びました。宿がそのまま会場になるため、議論を切り上げる時刻を宿の都合に合わせる必要がありません。一日の時間割を自分たちで組める ことが、この形のいちばんの利点でした。
Ito sits on the eastern shore of the Izu Peninsula, facing Sagami Bay. It is not far from Tokyo, and yet the humidity and the strength of the light change the moment you step off the train. For lodging we took a whole house, ours for the three days. Because the lodging was also the venue, no outside schedule decided when a discussion had to end. Setting our own timetable was the real advantage of the arrangement.
全員で一軒家に滞在すると、全体での討議と、部屋の隅で始まる少人数の会話が並行して生まれます。台所で手を動かしながら話が続き、玄関先で短いやりとりが交わされ、その論点が居間に戻ってから全員に共有されます。議論の単位が固定されない ことが、3日間の議論を支えていました。参加したのは、研究会として動きやすい人数です。誰の発言も一度は全員に届く場でした。
When everyone stays in one house, full-group discussion and smaller conversations in the corner of a room run in parallel. One thread carries on while hands are busy in the kitchen; a short exchange happens at the door; the point it raises comes back into the living room and is put to everyone. That the unit of discussion was never fixed is what carried the three days. The group was small enough to move easily, and small enough that every voice reached the whole room at least once.
大室山の草原と、南の白浜海岸 · The grasslands of Ōmuro-yama, and Shirahama to the south
日中は伊豆半島を歩きました。伊東市内の 大室山 は、約4000年前の噴火でできた標高580メートルのスコリア丘で、2010年に国の天然記念物に指定されています。山肌に木は一本もなく、草原の景観は毎年の山焼きによって保たれてきました。山体を守るため徒歩では登れず、山頂へはリフトで上がります。火口の縁をめぐる約1キロの遊歩道を歩くと、相模灘、伊豆大島、内陸の山並みが順に開けていきました。
The days were spent out walking. Ōmuro-yama, within Ito, is a 580-metre scoria cone formed by an eruption roughly four thousand years ago and designated a national natural monument in 2010. Not a single tree grows on its flanks; the grassland is maintained by an annual controlled burn. Climbing on foot is not permitted, in order to protect the cone, so the summit is reached by chairlift. As we walked the path around the crater rim, about a kilometre in circumference, Sagami Bay, Izu Ōshima and the inland ridgelines opened up in turn.
日中のもう一つの課題は、暑さでした。快晴が続き、日差しは強く、屋外を歩けば自然と会話が短くなります。そこで海沿いの国道を南へ下り、下田市の白浜海岸 まで足を延ばしました。伊豆半島でも屈指の広い砂浜で、海に入ってしまえば暑さは話題になりません。日程の上では寄り道ですが、涼をとる時間をとっておくことは、夜まで議論を続けるためにも必要でした。
The other thing that shaped the daytime was the heat. The sky stayed clear, the sun was relentless, and conversations shorten of their own accord when you are walking outdoors. So we followed the coast road south to Shirahama beach in Shimoda, one of the widest stretches of sand on the Izu Peninsula. Once you are in the water, the heat stops being a topic. On paper it looks like a detour, but making time to cool off was also what allowed the discussions to run late.
BBQの火を囲んだ夜と、秋学期の準備 · Evenings around the barbecue, and preparing for the autumn term
夜は全員で BBQ の火を囲みました。誰かが火を見て、誰かが食材を切り、誰かが飲み物を運びます。手を動かしながらの議論は、教室での討議とは進み方が違います。火加減を確かめる合間に話が途切れ、皿が回ってきたところで戻ってきます。話が途切れては戻るくらいのほうが、かえって 「結論を急がずに考え続ける」 時間になります。話題は経営戦略と組織の論点に及び、研究会で扱ってきた概念を、講義の用語ではなく自分の言葉で言い直していきました。
The evenings were spent around the barbecue, all of us together. One person watched the fire, another did the chopping, another carried the drinks. Talking with your hands occupied is not the same as talking in a classroom. A thread breaks off while somebody checks the heat and picks up again when a plate comes round. Talk that breaks and resumes leaves room, if anything, for "thinking without having to land on a conclusion." The talk turned to questions of strategy and organisation, and much of it went to restating concepts from the seminar in our own words rather than in the vocabulary of a lecture.
同じ食卓で、秋学期の運営 についても具体的に話しました。扱う文献、企業との合同セッション、学期全体の進め方を、一つずつ確認しました。合宿のうちにこの点を決めておくと、学期の始まりがなめらかになります。そして今回の節目は、卒業を控えたメンバーによるGPの発表 でした。研究会に長く関わってきたメンバーが、自分の研究をもう一度、全員の前で話しました。聞いていたほかのメンバーにとっては、自分のGPをどう組み立てるかを考え直す機会になりました。
At the same table we went through how the seminar would run in the autumn term: which texts to take up, the joint sessions with companies, and the shape of the term as a whole, one item at a time. Settling this at the retreat meant the term got underway more smoothly. The milestone of these three days was the GP presentations by the graduating members. Those who had been part of the seminar's discussions longest presented their own research to the whole group once more. For the others listening, it was an occasion to reconsider how they wanted to build their own GPs.
3日間が残したもの · What the three days left behind
3日目、一軒家を片付けて解散しました。特別な締めの儀式はありません。荷物を運び出し、鍵を返して、それぞれ帰路につきました。ただ、初日の夕方に交わしていた会話と、最終日の朝の会話とでは、話の前提として共有されていることが明らかに増えていました。同じ火を囲み、同じ海に入り、同じ発表を聞いたからです。3日間で結論が出たわけではありません。残ったのは、こうして共有された前提です。
On the third day we cleaned the house and went our separate ways. There was no closing ceremony: bags carried out, the key returned, and everyone on their way home. But between the conversations of the first evening and those of the last morning, a good deal more could be taken as given. We had sat around the same fire, gone into the same sea, listened to the same presentations. The three days did not produce conclusions. What they left was this common ground.
今年の夏合宿は、海と街を訪ねる例年どおりの日程でしたが、宿を一軒家にしたことで、生活と議論の距離がこれまで以上に近くなりました。GPの発表 を合宿の中に置いたことで、研究会の一年の区切りもはっきりしました。秋学期は、伊東で決めた計画に沿って始まります。
This year's retreat followed the familiar pattern of time by the sea and time in town, but taking a whole house brought daily life and discussion closer together than before. Placing the GP presentations inside the retreat also gave the seminar's year a clear dividing point. The autumn term will start from the plan we settled on in Ito.
