2025年2月1日（土）、琴坂研究会の冬合宿を 長野県・軽井沢 で開催しました。今回はゼミ生・OBOG・先生 がそれぞれ別の方向から軽井沢に集合し、日中はスキー、買い物、温泉など各自で時間を過ごしながら、夜にはゼミの空間に戻る、という構成を採りました。冬合宿の柱は二つ。卒業生の 卒論発表会と卒業コンテンツ による節目の確認と、当時準備が進んでいた琴坂の単著『経営戦略原論』の 目次案ブラッシュアップ会 です。今回は卒業生4名が軽井沢に駆けつけ、世代を跨いだ会となりました。
On Saturday 1 February 2025, the IBER-Kotosaka winter seminar retreat was held in Karuizawa, Nagano. Current students, alumni and Kotosaka arrived from different directions; days were left open for skiing, town walks, and the onsen, with everyone reconverging in the seminar room each evening. The camp had two anchors: the closing of one cohort, marked by thesis presentations and a graduation segment for the four graduating seniors, and a group critique of the chapter outline of Kotosaka's then-forthcoming book "Foundations of Strategic Management."
軽井沢に、それぞれの方向から · Arriving at Karuizawa from different directions
冬合宿の良いところの一つは、参加者が「同じ列車で出発する」必要がないことです。在京で働くOBOG、在学中のB1・B2、先生、それぞれが別のスケジュールで軽井沢に向かいます。新幹線を降りた瞬間に空気の冷たさが切り替わり、駅前の景色を見て「合宿が始まったな」と各自が認識する。集合時間に縛られない代わりに、合宿の「始まり」が個々人の身体の感覚として立ち上がる、という設計です。
One of the quieter virtues of the winter camp is that nobody has to "leave on the same train." Working alumni in Tokyo, current B1 and B2 students, and Kotosaka all arrive on their own schedules. The cold hits the moment you step off the Shinkansen, the view from the station tells your body the camp has started — without any single shared departure to anchor it. The "start" is delegated to each person's body, on arrival.
日中は、各自で時間を使いました。スキー場に向かう人、軽井沢のお店をゆっくり回る人、温泉でぼーっとする人。冬合宿は、「全員が同じ場所で同じ活動をする」設計ではなく、「夜の議論に向けて、それぞれが自分のリズムを整える」設計です。研究会のメンバー同士、年齢も卒業からの年数も違う中で、午後の数時間それぞれの過ごし方を選べる柔らかさがあるからこそ、夜のテーブルで全員が席に着いたとき、議論の入り方が揃いやすくなります。
Days were left to individual choice. Some headed for the slopes, some walked the town, some sat for a long stretch in the onsen. The winter camp is not built around "everyone doing the same thing in the same place" — it is built around "each person setting their own rhythm so that the evening discussion can land cleanly." Because the seminar mixes ages and graduation years, that softness in the afternoon is exactly what lets every chair at the evening table arrive at the same point at the same time.
夜の柱① 『経営戦略原論』 目次案ブラッシュアップ会 · Evening anchor #1: critiquing the book outline
夜の最初の柱は、琴坂が当時執筆中だった単著『経営戦略原論』の 目次案ブラッシュアップ会 でした。章立てのドラフトをスクリーンに映しながら、「この章はどの章のあとに来るべきか」「ここは別の章で扱った方が筋が通るのではないか」「読者は誰を想定すべきか」といった論点を、ゼミ生・OBOG・先生が混ざって議論します。研究会の中で蓄積されてきた経営戦略論の知識基盤が、書籍という外部に向けたフォーマットにどう翻訳されるべきか、という問いを正面から扱う時間になりました。
The first anchor of the evening was a group critique of the chapter outline of Kotosaka's forthcoming single-author book "Foundations of Strategic Management." The outline went up on the screen, and the table — current students, alumni and Kotosaka mixed together — worked through it: "Should this chapter come after that one?" "Would this argument make more sense in a different chapter?" "Who is the reader we are writing for?" The seminar's accumulated knowledge of strategic-management theory was, for an evening, being translated head-on into the format of an outward-facing book.
OBOGからの指摘には、社会に出て改めて経営戦略論の言葉を使う側に回ってから感じた、「大学の中ではあまり目立たないけれど、実務では効いてくる論点」がしばしば含まれました。一方、現役のB1・B2からは、「読者として最初に手に取ったとき、どこで離れそうか」という、より入口寄りの感覚が共有されました。書籍は単著ですが、目次の段階でこれだけ多角的な視点が並んだことは、結果として完成した本の論述構造に、目に見えにくい形で確実に反映されています。
The alumni's points often surfaced something specific: questions that don't stand out inside a university classroom but turn out to bite once you're using strategic-management language at work. The B1 and B2 students brought the opposite end of the lens — where, as a first-time reader, the book might lose them. The book is single-author, but having that many different angles laid against the outline at this stage shows up, quietly, in the finished structure of the argument.
夜の柱② 卒論発表会と卒業コンテンツ · Evening anchor #2: thesis presentations and the graduation segment
夜のもう一つの柱は、卒業生4名による 卒論発表会 と 卒業コンテンツ でした。卒論発表では、それぞれの研究テーマ、選んだ理由、どこで詰まり、どこで前進したかが語られました。研究会で扱う経営戦略論の幅は広く、卒論の射程もテーマごとに大きく異なります。発表者にとっては、研究会で過ごした2〜3年間の知的な軌跡を一本の流れに整えて差し出す、最後の機会となります。
The second anchor of the evening was the thesis presentations and the graduation segment from the four graduating seniors. The presentations walked through each thesis: the topic, why it had been chosen, where it had got stuck, where it had finally moved forward. The seminar's scope across strategic-management research is wide, and the theses span it. For each presenter, this is the last chance to lay out the two- or three-year intellectual arc of their seminar life as a single coherent thread.
卒業コンテンツは、卒業生本人と現役メンバーが共同で準備するもので、毎回フォーマットも内容も違います。ある年は映像、ある年はスライド、ある年は手書きの色紙。今回も、その年の卒業生らしい仕上がりとなりました。「卒業をお祝いする」というよりは、「研究会の中で過ごした時間がそれぞれにとってどんなものだったかを、参加者全員が静かに確認する」時間として機能します。OBOGも合流していたため、自分が卒業した年の景色をもう一度なぞる人もいて、合宿のテーブルの上には複数年分の研究会の時間が並ぶことになりました。
The "graduation segment" is something the graduating students and the current members put together themselves; the format changes year to year — sometimes a video, sometimes slides, sometimes a hand-written shikishi board. This year's was unmistakably this year's. It functions less as celebration than as a quiet collective check-in on what the seminar has meant to each person who passed through it. Because alumni were in the room as well, several of them retraced their own graduation evening as the present one unfolded — so the table was stacked with several years of seminar time at once.
冬合宿という節目 · The winter camp as a hinge
夏合宿が「春学期にできた距離を、秋学期に持ち越す」場だとすれば、冬合宿は「1年を閉じ、次の1年を始める」場です。卒業生にとっては最後の合宿、現役メンバーにとっては次のB2世代として研究会を回していく覚悟の時間。軽井沢の寒さと、宿の温かさの落差は、その節目を身体感覚としても支えてくれました。先生・OBOG・現役が同じ部屋で並ぶ景色は、研究会という持続的な営みの輪郭を、ふだんよりはっきりと見せてくれる時間でもありました。
If the summer camp "carries the closeness built in the spring term into the autumn term," the winter camp is the "closing of one year and the opening of the next." For the graduating students it is the last camp; for the current members it is the moment to take on, in earnest, what running the seminar as the next B2 cohort will mean. The contrast between the cold of Karuizawa and the warmth of the inn underwrote that hinge bodily. Seeing Kotosaka, alumni and current students lined up in the same room rendered the seminar's continuing shape, for a moment, more clearly than it normally appears.
