Admission notes選考にあたって
From AY2027 the seminar becomes an A-type kenkyukai (two slots per week, 4 credits), up from the current B-type (one slot, 2 credits). Applicants should expect a correspondingly higher level of commitment.
2027年度より研究会A(週2コマ・4単位)となります(現在は研究会B・週1コマ・2単位)。これに伴い、これまでよりも高いコミットメントを前提とした参加をお願いすることになります。
All members are required to pursue an individual or group research project — not limited to academic research; industry analyses by founders or aspiring founders also qualify. Applications from founders and students preparing to start a company are welcome.
在籍メンバー全員が個人またはグループの 研究活動 に取り組むことが必須です(学術研究に限らず、起業中・志望者の産業分析等も含む)。起業家・起業を準備している方の出願を歓迎します。
Potential is highly valued and we welcome students from their 1st and 2nd year. Under SFC's rules, kenkyukai enrolment normally begins in the 2nd year, but a 1st-year student may enrol in one kenkyukai per semester — A-type included — with the instructor's specific permission. We admit 1st-year students on that basis by way of exception.
学生のポテンシャルを重視しており、1年生・2年生 からの参加を歓迎しています。SFCの制度では研究会の履修は原則2年生からですが、担当教員が特に認めた場合には 1年生でも1学期に1科目(研究会A・Bのいずれか)を履修 できます。本研究会でも、例外的に1年生の履修を認める場合があります。
Taking Prof. Kotosaka's lecture courses is not a requirement. For 1st-year applicants in particular, however, having taken those courses and earned strong grades in them weighs meaningfully in the selection. Students with an exceptional track record — founders, for example — are not held to this.
担当教員(琴坂)の講義の履修は 必須ではありません。ただし とくに1年生 については、まず講義を履修し、優秀な成績を修めていることを重視します。起業などで 特段の実績を持つ学生は、この限りではありません。
Because the process is revised annually, the reliable source for the current cycle — process, deadlines, templates, submission form — is a current seminar member.

Graduate — Master & PhD大学院(修士・博士)
Important notice — admissions currently suspended. Prof. Kotosaka will be on a research sabbatical from the autumn semester of AY2027 through the spring semester of AY2028 (September 2027 – August 2028). Applications are therefore not accepted from candidates whose period of enrolment would overlap that window. In practice, the earliest intake we are able to discuss is autumn 2028.

Subject to the notice above, the Graduate Track accepts applications on a rolling basis throughout the year, in parallel with Keio's official application portal.

Highly motivated candidates with a strong academic background in strategy, international business, entrepreneurship, and institutional theory — and an interest in the four contemporary currents of strategic-management research (strategy-as-practice and -action, multi-layered boundary strategy, non-market and institutional strategy, and the algorithmic and robotic era; see our research focus). Ideal applicants demonstrate critical thinking, research potential, and a clear interest in these fields. Applications from founders and practising entrepreneurs are also welcome.

Past successful candidates have come from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, representing top-tier universities and business schools such as the University of Cambridge, LSE, INSEAD, IMD, Bocconi University, ESCP Business School, the University of Toronto, and Fudan University. Many have also received scholarships from the Japanese government or other competitive funding institutions.
過去の合格者は学術的背景も出身地域も多様で、ケンブリッジ大学、LSE、INSEAD、IMD、ボッコーニ大学、ESCP Business School、トロント大学、復旦大学 といった世界のトップ大学・ビジネススクールからの出身者が含まれます。文部科学省(MEXT)等の競争的奨学金の受給者も多く在籍しています。
Recommended preparation推奨準備
A solid foundation in the seminar's core research areas is highly recommended. For applicants without that background, we encourage engaging with academic literature from the Financial Times Top 50 (FT50) Journals to develop the necessary theoretical and analytical foundation.
研究会の核となる研究領域の素地が強く推奨されます。不足している場合は、Financial Times Top 50(FT50)ジャーナル の論文を読み込み、必要な理論・分析力を養うことを推奨します。

Processプロセス
Submit the materials by email to the faculty / university, in parallel with Keio's official application portal. We reply only to applicants who advance in the selection, typically within 10 business days; if you hear nothing, please take it that the application did not proceed. Note that a large share of the enquiries we receive do not meet the formal requirements set out above, and so never enter the selection process at all. Initial interviews are conducted by current graduate students, followed by further assessments.
提出書類を担当教員・大学にメールで送付してください(慶應公式の出願ポータルと並行)。選考を通過した方にのみ、概ね 10営業日以内 にご連絡します。ご連絡がない場合は、選考を通過しなかったものとお考えください。なお、お問い合わせの 多くは上記の形式要件を満たしておらず、そもそも選考の対象となっていません。一次面接は現役大学院生が担当し、その後追加の選考に進みます。
