2026年2月27日（金）から28日（土）にかけて、琴坂研究会の冬合宿を 新潟県妙高市 の 慶應義塾赤倉山荘 で開催しました。豪雪地として名高い妙高山麓の山荘での2日間は、ゼミ生が好きなスキーを思いきり楽しむ時間であると同時に、1年次から在籍してきたゼミの大先輩 たちの卒業を祝う、節目の合宿でもありました。今回は卒業生3名が長野県側からも妙高側からも合流し、慶應の山荘ならではの落ち着いた室内で、研究会の年次サイクルが静かに閉じられていきました。
From Friday 27 February to Saturday 28 February 2026, the IBER-Kotosaka winter seminar retreat was held at the Keio Akakura Lodge in Myōkō, Niigata, on the slopes of one of Japan's snowiest mountains. The two days were given over to a full day of skiing — and to marking the graduation of the three seniors who had been with the seminar since their first year. With graduating students arriving from both the Nagano and the Myōkō sides, the seminar's annual cycle quietly closed inside the calm rooms of Keio's mountain lodge.
赤倉山荘という選択 · Why the Akakura Lodge
慶應義塾赤倉山荘 は、新潟県妙高市の赤倉温泉に立つ、慶應義塾の塾生・教職員が利用できる山荘です。周囲は妙高高原の深い雪に包まれ、冬季はスキー場へのアクセスがよく、館内には食堂・大広間・談話スペースなどが備わっています。塾の山荘という性格上、宿の運営には一定の節度があり、ゼミ生にとっては 「外部の宿ではなく、塾の場で年次の節目を迎える」 という独特の感覚がありました。慶應義塾という長く続いてきた組織の中に研究会を改めて位置づける、という意味でも、今回の合宿地としてふさわしい場所でした。
The Keio Akakura Lodge stands in the Akakura Onsen area of Myōkō, Niigata, and is available to Keio students and faculty. It is wrapped in the deep snow of the Myōkō highlands, sits within easy reach of the ski areas in winter, and offers a dining hall, a tatami main room, and quiet common spaces. Being a lodge run by Keio gives it a certain restraint as a venue, and brought a particular sense to this camp: "closing the seminar year inside a Keio space, rather than at an outside inn." For repositioning the seminar within the long-running organism of Keio, this was the right choice.
雪と、スキーと、温泉と · Snow, skis, and the onsen
初日は朝から、希望者でスキー場へと向かいました。妙高は、本州屈指の積雪量を誇るエリアで、2月末でもなお深いパウダーが楽しめるコンディションでした。スキーの腕前にはメンバーごとに差がありますが、合宿のスキーは競技ではないので、それぞれが自分のペースで斜面を下り、ゲレンデの脇のレストハウスで合流する、というゆるやかな運用です。山の冷たい空気と、ほぼ無音の白い斜面、そして昼休みのひとときの会話。雪の山が物理的に与えてくれる 「考えごとの解像度を一旦下げる」 効果は、冬合宿でしか得られないものでした。
The first day moved straight to the slopes for those who wanted to ski. Myōkō has some of the heaviest snowfall on Honshū, and even in late February the powder remains deep. Skill levels varied across the seminar, but a seminar ski day is not a competition: each person took the runs at their own pace, with reconverging happening at the rest house at the edge of the piste. The cold mountain air, the near-silent white slopes, the loose mid-day conversations — the way a snowy mountain physically "lowers the resolution of thinking for a few hours" is something only the winter camp can offer.
夕方には山荘に戻り、温泉でほぐれた身体と空腹で食堂のテーブルに集まりました。食卓を囲んで交わされる会話は、ふだんの研究会のディスカッションと違って、テーマが行き来します。今日のスキーの転倒の話、卒業後の進路、最近読んだ本、研究会で扱った概念の再咀嚼。テーマが行き来したまま、夜が更けていきました。
By evening everyone was back at the lodge, loosened by the onsen and hungry, sitting around the long table in the dining hall. The conversation moved freely — quite unlike the focused weekly seminar — between today's ski falls, what came after graduation, books people were reading, and the re-chewing of concepts from this year's seminar. The themes drifted, and the night drifted with them.
1年次から在籍してきた大先輩たちの卒業 · Marking the graduation of three "first-year" seniors
今回の冬合宿のもう一つの軸は、1年次から研究会に在籍してきた3名 の卒業を祝うことでした。琴坂研究会では、1年次（A1）の段階から研究会に参加できる仕組みがあり、卒業までに長い年月を共に過ごすメンバーが毎年います。3年あるいはそれ以上、同じ研究会の活動を見続けてきた卒業生は、後輩にとって最も身近で具体的な 「研究会で過ごす時間とは何か」 のロールモデルです。その3名が同時に巣立つということは、研究会としても一つの節目でした。
The other anchor of this camp was the celebration of the graduation of three students who had been members of the seminar since their first year. In the Kotosaka Lab, students may join from their first year (A1), and so each year there are members who have spent several years inside the seminar together. Seniors who have been around the activity for three years or more become, for the underclass, the most concrete and immediate role models of what it actually means "to spend time in this seminar." Three of them leaving in the same year was a real hinge for the seminar as a whole.
夜のメインの時間は、3名それぞれへの感謝と、研究会で印象に残ったエピソードを共有する場となりました。1年次のときに苦労して書いたレポート、初めての企業との合同セッションでの緊張、合宿地で交わした夜中の議論。固有のエピソードがいくつも積み重なってくると、「研究会の3〜4年」というのが、いかに 具体的な時間の重なり でできているかが、改めて目に見えてきます。先生からの一言と、現役メンバーからのメッセージが続いたあと、3名は研究会の年輪に「卒業」の一目を加えて、それぞれの次の場所に向かっていきました。
The main evening was given over to thank-yous and memories — each of the three seniors hearing the episodes that the rest of the seminar had carried about them. A struggle with an early report in the first year, the nerves of a first joint session with a company, a midnight debate at some past camp. Once enough specific stories stack up, it becomes visible how much the seminar's "three or four years" really is built out of concrete pieces of time. After Kotosaka's words and messages from the current members, the three added the line "graduated" to the seminar's growth ring and moved on to whatever came next.
翌朝、妙高の山を背にして · The next morning, with Myōkō behind us
2日目の朝は、雪の深さを改めて感じる、しんとした明るさのなかで始まりました。山荘の朝食を済ませ、もう一度ゲレンデに出るメンバー、温泉でゆっくりするメンバー、談話スペースで読書するメンバーに分かれ、午後の早い時間にそれぞれの方向へと帰路につきました。卒業生3名は、現役メンバーよりも一足先に山荘を後にし、雪道のなかを軽く手を上げて去っていきました。研究会の冬合宿は、特別な演出を持ちません。だからこそ、こうした日常的な解散の場面が、いちばん研究会らしい節目として残ります。
The second morning began in the still brightness that comes with deep snow. After breakfast at the lodge, the seminar split — some back to the slopes, some to the onsen for a long sit, some to the common room with a book — before everyone began heading home in the early afternoon. The three graduating seniors left the lodge a little before the rest, raising a hand briefly along the snow-covered path and disappearing. The winter camp does not have any special staging. That is exactly why this kind of ordinary parting works as the seminar's most fitting hinge.
慶應義塾赤倉山荘は、塾の長い歴史の中で、何世代もの塾生たちが訪れ、それぞれの節目を経てきた場所です。研究会としても、「卒業の節目を、塾の山荘で迎える」という選択肢を今後も持っておきたい、と感じる2日間となりました。次の世代が、また次の節目で同じ山荘を訪れる日のことを、自然に想像できる帰り道でした。
The Akakura Lodge has hosted generations of Keio students through their own milestones across the long arc of the school's history. As a seminar, this camp left the sense that "marking graduation at the Keio lodge" is an option worth keeping for the years ahead. The drive home invited the easy thought of a future cohort returning to the same lodge for their own hinge.
