On Thursday 26 November 2026, Masahiro Kotosaka will give the keynote at MonotaRO DAY for Enterprise 2026, an online event hosted by MonotaRO Co., Ltd. on reforming procurement and purchasing. His keynote, from 13:05 to 13:55 JST, is titled "Reshaping business relationships and the company's foundations: strategy for the age of algorithms and robotics". Attendance is free, with advance registration.
講演では、『経営戦略の進化〈理論編〉』で示した経営戦略の四つの新潮流を、実践と行動の観点から紹介し、不確実性の時代には戦略と組織の見直しが要ることを論じます。アルゴリズムとロボティクスが進めば、間接材の購買でも購買エージェントのような仕組みが動き、速くきめ細かな手配が求められます。そうした時代に向けて、取引先や顧客との関係をどうアップデートするか、そして会社の足腰である調達購買・経理・総務の部門が全社の変革にどのような役割を果たせるかを考えます。
The keynote introduces the four new currents in strategy set out in The Evolution of Strategic Management (Theory), with a focus on practice and behaviour, and argues that times of uncertainty call for a rethink of both strategy and organisation. As algorithms and robotics advance, systems such as purchasing agents will begin to handle even indirect materials, and companies will need to arrange supplies faster and with more precision. With that in mind, the keynote asks how firms should update their relationships with suppliers and customers, and what role the departments that form the company's foundations, procurement, accounting and general affairs, can play in transforming the whole organisation.

After the keynote, people leading procurement and accounting reform at JX Metals, Tabio and Sumitomo Wiring Systems will speak and be interviewed about their work.
