一般財団法人ベンチャーエンタープライズセンター（VEC）が編纂する『ベンチャー白書2021 ― ベンチャービジネスに関する年次報告』に、琴坂将広（慶應義塾大学総合政策学部 教授）、山本愛優美、矢地理彩奈、山本亮輔の共著解説論文「起業家をどう育てるか：起業家同士のメンタリングがもたらす価値」が掲載されました（pp. I-87 – I-93）。本稿は琴坂研究会の学部生メンバーと共同で取り組んだ研究プロジェクトの成果をまとめたもので、若手起業家育成の現場における「ピアメンタリング（同等の立場にある起業家同士による相互助言）」の価値を、日本の代表的な起業家育成プログラム MAKERS UNIVERSITY のフィールド観察にもとづいて検討しています。
The 2021 edition of the VEC Venture Yearbook, edited by the Venture Enterprise Center, includes a co-authored chapter by Masahiro Kotosaka (Professor, Faculty of Policy Management, Keio University), Ayumi Yamamoto, Risana Yachi, and Ryosuke Yamamoto, titled "How Should We Develop Entrepreneurs? The Value That Peer Mentoring Among Entrepreneurs Brings" (pp. I-87 – I-93). The article is the first published output of a research project conducted jointly with undergraduate members of the Kotosaka Seminar, and examines the underexplored role of peer mentoring — mutual advising among novice entrepreneurs at comparable stages of development — based on a field observation of MAKERS UNIVERSITY, a leading Japanese entrepreneurship-development programme.

起業家育成プログラムの拡大に伴い、近年は 連続起業家から新人起業家へのメンタリング（serial-to-novice mentoring）に関する研究蓄積が急速に進んできました。一方で、同じく新人段階にある起業家同士が相互に助言し合う ピアメンタリング（peer mentoring） の効果については、十分に検証されていません。本稿は、未踏の若手起業家を対象としたインキュベーション・コミュニティ「MAKERS UNIVERSITY」（特定非営利活動法人ETIC.が運営）のフィールドを長期的に観察し、参加起業家・運営側双方への定性的データを集約することで、新人同士のピアメンタリングが (i) 学習促進、(ii) 心理的支援、(iii) ネットワーキング、(iv) 社会的責任感の醸成という複数の機能を果たしていることを示しました。
As entrepreneurship-development programmes proliferate, mentoring research has rapidly accumulated, particularly on serial-to-novice mentoring relationships. Yet little is known about peer mentoring among novice entrepreneurs at the same stage of growth. Drawing on a longitudinal field observation of MAKERS UNIVERSITY — a Japanese incubation community for early-stage young founders operated by NPO ETIC. — this article shows that peer mentoring among novice entrepreneurs serves multiple functions: (i) learning facilitation, (ii) psychological support, (iii) network formation, and (iv) the cultivation of a sense of social responsibility.

分析結果からは、新人起業家同士の継続的な対話と相互観察が、メンター不在の状況下でも一定の 代替的学習機会 を提供しうること、また「同じ目線で語れる仲間」がもたらす 強い心理的支柱 としての効果が、長期的な起業活動の継続と次世代育成への波及につながりうることが示唆されました。これらの知見は、メンター人材の供給に制約がある地域・分野において、起業家育成プログラムの設計者が ピア構造そのもの をプログラムの主軸として位置付ける可能性を示すものです。本稿は、その後の海外学会発表へと展開する研究プロジェクトの最初期の成果報告となっています。
The findings suggest that ongoing peer dialogue and mutual observation can serve as a meaningful alternative learning channel in settings where senior mentors are scarce, and that "peers who can speak from the same vantage point" provide a powerful form of psychological scaffolding that may sustain long-run entrepreneurial activity and feed forward into the development of subsequent founder cohorts. The chapter therefore points to the possibility that programme designers operating in regions or fields with limited mentor supply could elevate the peer structure itself to the centre of programme design. This article represents the earliest published output of a research project that subsequently extended to international conference presentations.
